How do Contest Sims work?

Written by Jordan Chand

Contest Sims measure how profitable each of your lineups is by rebuilding the contests you entered and playing them out tens of thousands of times.

For each contest in your entries file, SaberSim creates a simulated version with the real entry limit, contest size, and payout structure. It fills that contest with field lineups, which are sets of simulated opponent lineups built to match how people actually play at that entry fee and format. It then picks one of its play-by-play game simulations for every game on the slate, scores every lineup in the contest, ranks them, and pays out prizes. Then it does that again with a different game simulation, tens of thousands of times.

What you see for each lineup is the average across all of those runs: its Sim ROI, how often it wins, how often it cashes, and how much its results swing. That is how SaberSim distinguishes between a lineup that simply projects well and a lineup that actually makes money in the contest you're playing.

Contest sims are only available on the Ultimate Plan, and require both ownership projections and simulation support to run. Contest sims are set to run automatically by default. If you want to manually run contest sims again after their initial run, click the crystal ball icon:

If you want to always require a manual run rather than allowing contest sims to run automatically, toggle Auto-Run Contest Sims OFF in the lineup settings:
