Lineup groups are like folders for your lineups and they determine how your lineups are organized and presented to you.
They are cosmetic, and do not affect the quality of the lineups selected. There is no “best” lineup group template, only the one that is best for you.
Most users use one of the default lineup group templates, starring it with the “star” icon so that it is used every time you upload an entries file and sit down to build.
Three templates come with SaberSim:
Direct Fill makes one group that contains all of your entries, and fills a unique lineup into each entry. This is typically the simplest and most flexible lineup group template for managing exposures, though it can be hard to manage exactly what lineups are going into what contests when using this template.
One Group Per Contest gives every contest its own group, with as many lineups as you entered. Using this template makes it easier to identify which lineups are going into each group. When using this template, your exposures will be applied to each group, which means you will have more balanced exposures across all of your contests, but this can also mean it is harder to reach exactly your desired exposures in every contest, especially if some contests have only a few number of entries.
All Contests in One Group puts every contest in one group. The number of lineups equals your highest max-entry limit. If you’re playing a handful of single-entry, 3-max, 20-max, and one 150-max contest, this group will have 150 lineups in it, and split those 150 lineups evenly across your various entries.
If none of those fit, clone one and edit it, or build a custom template that groups contests by entry fee, entry limit, contest type, or name.
