How do I create a custom lineup group template?

Written by Jordan Chand

Open Templates, click Add New, and set up the rules that decide how your contests get grouped.

Template type. Contest, Manual, or Lineup Pool. Contest is what almost everyone wants, since it attaches groups to the contests in your entries file. Manual creates groups with no contests attached. Lineup Pool changes how your Lineup Pool itself is set up, usually to give it default filters.

Each or All. A group for each matching contest, or one group for all of them.

Requirements. Narrow which contests the rule applies to: entry fee, your entries, total entrants, prize structure, contest type, contest name, and more. A rule with no requirements catches every contest.

Settings. Diversity (Portfolio or Uniques), the rank metric if you chose Uniques, and any default filters for the group.

Two more settings appear when you choose All.

Lineups in the group. Total Entries gives every entry a unique lineup. Max Entries sets the group to the largest entry limit among its contests, so a few single-entries plus a 3-max and a 20-max make a 20-lineup group. Or set an exact number.

Late swap handling. Unique Lineups keeps entries that shared a lineup at lock sharing one after the swap. Total Lineups swaps every entry on its own, so three entries come back as three lineups whether or not they started the same.

Multiple rules. A template can hold more than one grouping rule. They run in order, and a contest claimed by an earlier rule isn't considered by later ones. So a template with "all single-entry contests in one group" followed by "each contest in its own group" puts the single-entries together and everything else on its own, without the second rule needing an exception.

Star the template to make it the default every time you upload an entries file.
